Children are constantly inspiring and amazing us with the way they perceive things. Recognizing their learning potential and valuing each of them as being unique individuals with their very own learning styles and strengths and weaknesses helps us understand them better. Bringing ourselves down to their level bridges the relationship and builds a special bond. If I can be flexible to accept and adapt to a situation and vary my thoughts and actions, only then can I make a change in their lives. Each and every one of them can excel. I believe in them that they can do it and they do.


Shanthi joined Leapfrogs with a very rich background in early childhood education and has been in this field for over 10 years. She has worked in the Movement for Intellectually Disabled School (MINDS) and held other senior positions in local school settings where she was involved in integrating and supporting children with special needs into the mainstream setting. The experiences of understanding and learning differentiated teaching methods and intervention techniques gained at MINDS inspired her move to the special education field 9 years ago. In pursuit of gaining specialized training in special education, she acquired the Advance Diploma in Early Childhood Intervention (Special Needs) from Ngee Ann Polytechnic. She has added value to her professional development through the various overseas training certifications in Brain Rx, Mediated Learning Experience,Visualizing & Verbalizing.

She feels fulfilled being a part of the Leapfrogs team, as both her career and passion have come together. She believes that children should gain access to effective education regardless their ability. Her passion lies in working with school-aged children and is inspired to help them discover and develop their natural talents in preparation for life-long learning to become an independent learner. She establishes meaningful relationships and strongly feels about encouraging the children to realize their maximum potential. She can relate to their struggles like coping with academic demands that affect them emotionally. She interchanges her roles as a teacher, mentor and friend with ease.

Her interests are in literacy, comprehension, character development, social reasoning and executive functions. She also runs social groups for older children to develop resilience, perspective taking, conflict resolution; dynamic thinking group in preparing children in primary level for classroom and early learning skills and brain training programs for children to enhance their cognitive skills.

As an advocate to raise awareness about early detection and intervention, she spearheaded the Outreach Program in 2009 and has since collaborated with many preschools and childcare centers to successfully conduct teacher and parent training workshops.
